Mrs. Fisher
Hello! My name is Rachel Fisher and I am the 2nd grade School Counselor at Cartersville Primary School. This is my 8th year as a school counselor and I am so excited about this new year and new school! I began my career teaching Chatham County Public Schools as an Autism Inclusion Teacher. This experience lead me to the realization that I wanted to advocate for children who were unable to advocate for themselves. I decided to get my Masters in Mental Health Counseling and also became a Licensed Professional Counselor. I began working at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health working with children who had experienced complex trauma. I worked there for 6 years before becoming a school counselor in Cherokee County Schools. As a school counselor, I have obtained my Ed.S. in Professional School Counseling and am currently working to obtain my Doctorate in Professional School Counseling and Supervision from the University of West Georgia. My anticipated graduation date is December 2024. I have 3 children in the school system, and it is a privilege to be able to watch them grow academically and socially in this school district.
During the primary years, students begin to develop character values, academic and social self-concepts, as well as feelings of competence and confidence as learners. Early identification and intervention with children experiencing academic, and/or social and emotional difficulties is essential for removing barriers to learning and promoting academic achievement and future success. If you need resources for your child, please don't hesitate to reach out. My goal as a school counselor is to remove barriers for students to become successful citizens in our community. We are building legacies... One student at a time. It is my pleasure to work with each and every one of our students! Go Canes!
