Pre-K Activities
1. Write letters or numbers on a piece of paper. Use play-doh to make the letters/numbers. You can roll the play-doh into a “snake”, or make little balls (This also promotes fine motor skills).
2. Write the letters of the alphabet (or numbers) on notecards (Make 2 sets of each letter/number). Place one set of cards around the room or down a hallway. Hand your child one letter/number at a time and have them find the matching letter/number.
3. Write an uppercase letter and a lowercase letter on each side of a notecard. Use scissors to cut down the middle and create a puzzle for your child to match the letters.
4. Make 2 sets of letter or number flashcards using index cards. Mix them up and lay the letters/numbers face down, making sure you have 2 of each letter/number. Flip one card over at a time and try to make a match!
5. Write letters or numbers on a piece of paper using a highlighter. Let your child practice pre-writing skills by tracing the letter/number using a pencil.
6. Make letter or number cards out of index cards. Using a small tray or box, pour a small amount of sand or salt into the tray. Have your child use their finger to write the letter/number you show them on the card.
7. Write letters or numbers on sticky notes and place the sticky notes around your house. Have your child go on a letter/number hunt around the house.
8. Make patterns out of Lego blocks or any other colored items that you can find around the house. Start an AB pattern and ask your child to keep it going!
9. Write your child’s name on a piece of paper. Have your child roll play-doh into a “snake” or into little balls to create the letters in their name.
10. Write your child’s name on a piece of paper. Use scissors to cut in between each letter to create a name puzzle!
11. Write your child’s name on a piece of paper. Let them cover their names with stickers. This also promotes fine motor skills!
12. Write your child’s name using a highlighter or marker. Have your child practice pre-writing skills by tracing over their name with a pencil.
13. Make a name card out of index cards. Using a small tray or box, fill it with salt or sand. Have your child use their finger or a paintbrush to write their name in the sand/salt.
