Mrs. Kim Poe

This is my 33rd year teaching.  I received my undergraduate degree from Kennesaw State College, my Masters degree from the University of West Georgia, and my Specialists degree in Curriculum and Learning from Piedmont College.

I have been married to Rick Poe for 30 years.  He teaches 8th social studies here at CMS.  We have two daughters.  Kaylin graduated from West Georgia in May of 2018 with a degree in Speech Pathology.  She graduated in May 2022 from Kennesaw State University with a Masters in Social Work, and she works in Carrolton.    Madison, our youngest, also graduated in May with a Bio-Chem degree from Georgia Tech  She wants to be a PA, physician's assistant, and plans to attend Mercer soon. We have three dogs:  Dolly, Rocky, and Tank.  Rocky and Tank are miniature chihuahuas, and I love all of my dogs so much.  I like to tell lots of humorous stories, and my dogs give me a lot of stories to tell.

I am the ELA chairperson at our school.  I love to read when I have the time.  My favorite vacation spot is the beach.  I absolutely love the beach!

This year I am teaching all subjects in the Cartersville Virtual Academy.  This is the 3rd year that I have taught CVA students, and I am excited about the hybrid model.  Students will come to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  They will learn from home on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

If any parents or students need to contact me, you may do so through email. (kpoe@cartersvilleschools.org)

Instructional content for my CVA students is in Edgenuity, the platform for our virtual academy.

I will communicate with students and parents through Teacher Messaging which sends text messages and emails.  I will call parents to keep an open line of communication.  Please make sure your information in PowerSchool is correct so that you will receive my messages from Teacher Messaging.

I love teaching and love it when a student truly "gets it."  I love Cartersville and I love my Canes!!!
