Mr. Mike Mitchell

Born and raised in the Great Sunshine state of Florida, where I graduated from Pasco High School, class of 1988.  I am a proud graduate of Florida A & M University, Home of The FAMU Mighty Rattlers!!!!  I was a member of the 1988-1993 Rattler Football Team as a four-year letterman at Running Back, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., and a graduate from the College of Education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  I earned my Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University in Special Education and started my E.Ds. Degree at Berry College in Educational Leadership. I have been in education for 25 years.  I started my career as a Fourth Grade Elementary School Teacher in 1994. Since then, I have held the positions of Dean of Students, Behavioral Specialist, Athletic Director, Head Football Coach (High and Middle Schools), Head Basketball Coach (Middle School), Head Weightlifting Coach Boys and Girls (High School) and Head Track Coach (Middle School).  I have had the privilege of teaching all grade levels (Elementary, Middle and High Schools) and, by far, middle school has been my favorite!  I am very excited to be teaching at Cartersville Middle School as a 7th Grade ELA Special Education Inclusion and Resource Teacher.  I am married to Melissa Mitchell and together we have five adult men. I personally believe we all have a specific purpose in life. I found my purpose as an educator who truly enjoys shaping the minds and bodies of today’s youth, whether it’s in the classroom or in athletics.
