Mrs. April Burel, ELA

Hello friends! Welcome to Mrs. Burel's webpage! I have been teaching here at CMS for fifteen years, teaching in both public and private schools for a total of twenty-five years. I enjoy teaching ELA/SS and especially love to share my day with all of you! I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and moved to Georgia to attend  North Georgia College and the University of Georgia (Go DAWGS!). I graduated from UGA in 1994 where I earned a BSEd. degree in Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies and later earned my MEd. from Kennesaw State University. 

I have a wonderful husband (Brad) who is a retired teacher, two wonderful adult children- Jack (24) and Rebekah (22)- and a big blended family where there's lots of love. 

My passion for teaching is ignited at the beginning of each school year, and I believe in the positive impact that a teacher can have on a student's future. One quote that has inspired my professional journey is by e.e. cummings: "We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, and spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit."
