Welcome to the Hurricane Battalion Family!  This is my fifth year teaching and I am extremely excited about the school year and the many exciting opportunities ahead.

I started my military career immediately after graduation from high school. I attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Combat Medical School in San Antonio, Texas.  Some of my duties and assignments included: Operations, Administrative, Legal, Engineering, Casualty Affairs, Recruiting and Army Instructor.  My military education includes all the required NCO Education for my rank, as well as the Light Leader's and Sapper Leader's Course.  My awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4th Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (with Star), Multi National Force & Observers Ribbon and The Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon.  Other awards include the Expert Recruiting Badge, Career Counselor and Sapper Tab.

Every Cadet who enters this program has a talent! I look forward to helping you develop and explore that talent and other life skills - this will help you endure and overcome challenges - which will result in a successful high school experience.  Go Canes!

CW3 Edwyn Bonayon

Hello, I am Edwin Bonayon (Chief) and am new to Cartersville GA! This is my first year teaching and I am excited to be a part of the Canes family.

I’ve had a diverse military career spanning over 23 years. My journey began in July 2000 by enlisting in the Marine Corps, where I served with distinction for four years. During my first two years, I was selected for the Presidential Honor Guard (8th&I). Following my tenure in the Presidential Honor Guard, I got stationed in Hawaii, where I served as a squad leader in 3/3 Kilo. Additionally, during my time in the Marines, I earning a spot on the All-Marine Wrestling team.

After completing my service in the Marines, I embarked on a new chapter in my military career, enlisting in the Idaho Army National Guard as an infantryman to continue my service to the nation. From there, I transferred to the Colorado Army National Guard, where I served as a Supply Sergeant for three years.

I then joined the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where I served as a Senior Supply Sergeant for the 54th Civil Support Team for seven years. My last transfer was to the Wyoming Army National Guard where I served as the Property Book Officer for the 94th Troop Command.

I am married to my beautiful wife Ashley and we have seven wonderful kids Bubba, Easton, Benson, Faith, Wisdom, Oakley, and Austyn. I am also a giant Boise State fan. Do you remember when Boise State beat Georgia 35-21? I do!!!
