COL Jeff Dickerson

This is my first year instructing JROTC - it's been a long term goal, and I'm super excited and humbled to do so here at Cartersville High School.

I had the priviledge of serving in the US Army and recently retired after 35 years, during which time I had the unique experience of working with international partners in the countries of Georgia, Bosnia, Uganda, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Argentina, as well as several NATO partners; serving in multiple combat and peace-keeping deployments - Desert Storm, Intrinsic Action, Stabilization Forces Bosnia-Herzogovina, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan); commanding at the company, squadron, and brigade levels; and working hand in hand with local, state, and federal partners in emergency preparedness and disaster response planning while serving as the Chief of Joint Staff and Director of Domestic Operations for the Georgia Department of Defense.

After getting commissioned as a Second Lieutenant via ROTC at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA, it only took me 6 years to get a 4 year BS degree in History from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, GA, and later graduated from the US Army War College in Carlisle, PA.

I'm the proud father of two wonderful offspring - Alex and Doc - and enjoy sailing, scuba diving, cycling, Crossfit, skydiving, traveling, working on my farm, and taking care of my critters - chickens, donkeys, pigs, Golden Retrievers - Beau and Sadie, and one crazy farm kitty, Ozzy (as in Osbourne).
