Mr. Scott Tierce
My name is Scott Tierce, and I am proud to be a Cartersville Purple Hurricane. I grew up in Marietta, but my family has deep ties to Cartersville because so many of us were born and raised in the Cartersville community. I received my bachelor’s degree, secondary English education, from Kennesaw State University, and I received my Masters of Science degree in Reading and Literacy from NOVA Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I am certified to teach grades 6-12. I have taught seventeen years at the high school level, working the past two years at Cartersville Middle School. I have taught co-taught English, English, and honors level English courses grades 8-12, and I am also gifted certified and certified in special education curriculum pre-k through 12th grade.
As a teacher, my focus is to build supportive relationships with every one of my students to support their individual needs. My intentions in the classroom are quite simple, read, discuss, write. However, my methods are deceptively purposeful in helping students develop and access skills beyond their current levels, regardless of their academic standings.
Personally, I have been married to my extremely supportive and understanding wife, Mrs. Shelley Tierce, for 24 years, and we have two boys, Zachary and Henry, both graduates of Cartersville High School. I can honestly say my family is my life and my rock. I love them all dearly.
I look forward to expanding my family here at Cartersville High School as I help to teach and support each of my students as if they are my own children.
