Mrs. Holly Gridley, ELA

Hello and welcome to 8th grade at Cartersville Middle School!  My name is Holly Gridley and it is my goal to help make this a phenomenal year for each of my students.  I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Education from Georgia Southern University in 1991.  I began teaching in Folkston, GA where I taught four years of 6th grade ELA. While teaching in Folkston, I acquired my Master's of Education degree in middle grades from Valdosta State University in 1993.  After moving to Cartersville in 1994, I taught 8th grade ELA at Cass Middle School.  After a leaving the classroom to raise my children, I returned to teaching in 2014 at Cartersville Middle School.  This is my seventh year teaching 8th grade ELA at CMS.

I have been married for 29 years to John Gridley, a former social studies teacher at Cartersville High School.  We have three sons who have all been a part of the Cartersville city schools where they received an exemplary education.  Caleb, my oldest, is currently finishing his doctorate of pharmacy at Samford University in Birmingham, AL.  Gabriel, a senior, at Georgia Southern University is completing his business degree.  My youngest son, Isaac, a sophomore and resident assistant at Berry College is pursuing an engineering degree.

It is my desire to help make this an extremely successful year for each of my students.  I hope to inspire a LOVE of reading and to develop the internal spark within each student I teach to achieve his/her greatest potential.
