What is Drill? Drill is the most attentive to detailed extracurricular activity in the JROTC. Consisting of different events such as Armed/Unarmed Squad, Armed/Unarmed Platoon, Competitive Drill Color Guard, and Exhibition. In Squad, Platoon, Color Guard Drill, Cadets will compete against other schools' JROTC programs and march to a list of commands given by their commander, the goal being to make the least number of mistakes whilst marching. In Exhibition, Cadets will master the art of spinning and flipping drill rifles and create their own routine.
How do I join Drill? Joining Drill is very simple. At the beginning of each Drill season there will be a Drill interest meeting and try-outs for commanders. Once the Cadet makes it into a event, they will be required to show up to weekly practices and attend weekly Drill Meets.
Why should I join Drill? Drill is one of the three requirements to receive a Varsity Letter in JROTC. When you complete your third Drill Meet you will receive your Drill Cord, Drill Ribbon, Drill Arc Pin and Drill Arc Patch. Additionally, you may receive medals for Exhibition and knock-out competitions.
