Michael Moon
Michael Moon is currently entering his third year as Director of Bands at Cartersville High School. His responsibilities include being the program administrator for all activities and conducting the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Bands and Percussion Ensemble. He also serves as the Fine Arts Liasion for the Cartersville City School System. Prior to Cartersville, Moon was the Director of Ensembles at Roswell High School. His responsibilities include being the program administrator for all activities and conducting the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Bands and Symphony Orchestra, as well teaching AP Music Theory. Prior to Roswell, Moon was the Assistant Director of Bands in the Berryville School District in Berryville, AR. His responsibilities included team teaching beginning brass, percussion and woodwinds as well as conducting the three concert ensembles, marching band, choir, several chamber ensembles and the Carroll County Community Orchestra. Before Berryville, Moon was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Arkansas. Here, he was fortunate enough to conduct all university bands, concert choir and several chamber ensembles. Before moving to Arkansas, he was an event coordinator at Music for All, INC in Indianapolis, IN.
Moon holds a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from The University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Georgia State University. His professional affiliations include GMEA, NAfME, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma and Phi Mu Alpha. He enjoys eating red velvet cheesecake, hiking long trails and spending time with his niece and three nephews!
