Welcome to English class. For ninth and tenth grade, students at Cartersville High School study World Literature and Composition. These companion courses are designed to introduce students to works of literature from around the world with an emphasis on particular authors and their poems, dramas, novels, non-fiction texts, and short stories. Students will receive daily instruction and supported practice in reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and vocabulary-enhancement in addition to grammar and usage skills.
This is my fifteenth year as an English teacher at Cartersville High School. During this time, I have taught Ninth and Tenth Grade Literature and Composition as well as British Literature and Reading Comprehension. I earned my BA in English and my BS in education from Kennesaw State University. My graduate work in literacy was completed at Walden University. I, along with my husband who is in the accounting industry in Atlanta, have proudly resided in the Cartersville community for almost twenty years. My own children, an industrial engineering alumnus of Georgia Tech and a senior nursing graduate of Kennesaw State, are products of Cartersville City Schools; accordingly, as a parent and as a faculty member, I can attest to the high-quality education offered at all grade levels in the system.
I maintain a Schoology site as a resource so students have easy access to vital information for successful completion of their English course. Here, students are able to easily find texts utilized in class instruction, links to sites to supplement face-to-face instruction as well as a class calendar. Additionally, the site is used by me to message students with reminders about upcoming assignments and assessments
If you need to contact me directly, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 770-382-3200. While I will not be able to speak with you immediately if I am working with students, I will return your call as soon as possible if you wish to leave a voice mail. Whether you contact me by email or telephone, expect return correspondence within 24 hours during the school week. I look forward to a pleasant and productive year with all of my students!
