I graduated from Kennesaw State University (magna cum laude) in 2003. While earning my Masters in Education in 2007 from Piedmont College, I added another field – Secondary Social Studies. After completing the master’s program, I immediately enrolled again with Piedmont and acquired my Specialist Degree in Teaching and Learning (2009). I also have my Gifted Endorsement.
I am retired from the military where I served as a weapons system technician aboard nuclear ballistic submarines, and more recently, as a naval intelligence specialist. I’ve been lucky to travel the world and work with people from around the globe.
I have been married to Kim Poe, the Virtual Academy teacher and ELA chairperson here at Cartersville Middle School, for 30 years. We have two daughters, Kaylin and Madison, who both attended Cartersville City Schools. Kaylin is presently working for Carroll County Department of Family and Children Services. Madison has recently graduated Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She plans on applying for and attending Physician Assistant school.
I love teaching at CMS and am honored to teach with the best staff in Georgia. This is my 18th year teaching, and I enjoy helping our awesome and diverse student population. GO CANES!
