Mr. Poe

I graduated from Kennesaw State University (magna cum laude) in 2003. While earning my Masters in Education in 2007 from Piedmont College, I added another field – Secondary Social Studies. After completing the master’s program, I immediately enrolled again with Piedmont and acquired my Specialist Degree in Teaching and Learning (2009); I also have my Gifted Endorsement. I am currently enrolled in the Automotive Program at Chattahoochee Technical College. 

I have retired from the military where I served as a weapons system technician aboard nuclear ballistic missile submarines, and more recently, as an Intelligence Specialist. I’ve been lucky to travel the world and work with people from around the globe.

I have been married to Kim Poe, the CMS Virtual Academy teacher and CMS ELA chairperson, for 32 years. We have two daughters, Kaylin and Madison, who both attended Cartersville City Schools. Kaylin is a social worker presently employed by the Carroll County Department of Family and Children Services. Madison graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and is presently attending Mercer University Physician Assistant (PA) school.

I am excited to be teaching Automotive at CHS and am honored to teach with the best staff in Georgia. This is my 21st year teaching, and I enjoy helping our awesome and diverse student population. GO CANES!
