The BJW Legacy Scholarship is in honor of Mrs. Brenda Joyce Williams. She was a single mother of four, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. With only a 6th grade education Mrs. Williams inspired an entire generation of young people to pursue their educational endeavors with fervor. She lovingly encouraged them to never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do. She lived by one simple motto “Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world” I John 4:4. As a result, she witnessed her children and grandchildren graduate from high school, college, and graduate school. She herself made the decision to return to school after more than 30 years to earn her GED. The recipients of this award embody that same CAN DO attitude. They work hard to achieve their academic goals, while maintaining a sense of duty to give back to those in need. And like Mrs. Williams, they do so with a smile and personality that inspires those to give their best no matter the task.
