Ms. Jennifer Turem

I began teaching art at Cartersville Elementary School in August of 2002.  I can honestly say that I truly love my job!  The first time I walked through the doors of CES, I knew that I had found more than just a great teaching job, but also a home. Although teaching isn’t always easy, I can’t imagine doing anything else.  There’s such great reward in seeing creative ideas come to life in my students’ work.

I was born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Missouri – a small, quaint town much like Cartersville – located on the Mississippi River about an hour south of St. Louis.  After high school, I attended Southeast Missouri State University where I earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Interior Design.  In August of 1995, I moved to Georgia and began teaching interior design at Bauder College in Atlanta.  I taught at the college level for two years and then worked for an architectural firm while attending Kennesaw State University to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and Studio Art.

I live in Cartersville and have two children.  My son is a senior at Cartersville High School and my daughter is a junior at Kennesaw State University.  When I'm not teaching, I enjoy drawing, painting, jewelry making, reading, and watching college football (Roll Tide!) and NHL hockey (Let's Go Blues!). Other interests include attending church, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and doing mission work with LIVE 2540.  I’ve been “bleeding purple” for over 22 years, and am very blessed to be a part of such a great community and school system!
