I began teaching art at Cartersville Elementary School in August of 2002. I can honestly say that I truly love my job! The first time I walked through the doors of CES, I knew that I had found more than just a great teaching job, but also a home. Although teaching isn’t always easy, I can’t imagine doing anything else. There’s such great reward in seeing creative ideas come to life in my students’ work. I was born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Missouri – a small, quaint town much like Cartersville – located on the Mississippi River about an hour south of St. Louis. After high school, I attended Southeast Missouri State University where I earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Interior Design. In August of 1995 I moved to Georgia and began teaching interior design at Bauder College in Atlanta. I taught at the college level for two years and then worked for an architectural firm while attending Kennesaw State University to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and Studio Art. I live in Cartersville with my two children (7th and 11th grades) who love being a part of the Cartersville Schools family as well. When I'm not teaching I enjoy drawing, painting, jewelry making, reading, watching college football and St. Louis Blues hockey, attending church, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and doing mission work with Orphan Aid Liberia. I’ve been “bleeding purple” for over 17 years and I am very blessed to be a part of such a great community and school system!
