Mrs. Melissa Bates

My name is Melissa Bates, and I consider it a privilege to be principal of Cartersville Elementary School. I am both excited and prepared to work with the wonderful students, parents, teachers and support staff who make up CES.

Career:

I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University, obtained a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and a Specialist in Education Leadership Superintendency from Arkansas State University. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. In 2000, I made the decision to be a dedicated educator. I have taught in primary, elementary and middle schools. In 2005, I moved from the role of a classroom teacher to that of an administrator. It is my belief that building positive relationships with students, parents, and the community will ensure that our children succeed academically and have a vision to be lifelong learners.

Family:

I have three children who are students in the Cartersville City School System. In addition, I have one child who graduated from the system and is now in college. My husband Will and I are proud to call Cartersville home. We all love being a part of the CCS family.
