Dr. Melissa Bates

Serving as the principal of Cartersville Elementary School is both a privilege and honor. I am extremely excited to work with the wonderful students, parents, teachers and support staff who make up CES.

I earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Florida Atlantic University, a Master of Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Specialist degree in Education Leadership Superintendency from Arkansas State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. In 2000, I made the decision to be a dedicated educator. I have taught in primary, elementary and middle schools. In 2005, I moved from the role of a classroom teacher to that of an administrator. It is my belief that building positive relationships with students, parents, and the community will ensure that our children succeed academically and have a vision to be lifelong learners.

I have three children who are students in the Cartersville City School System. In addition, I have one child who graduated from the system and is now in college. My husband Will and I are proud to call Cartersville home. We all love being a part of the CCS family.
