Special Education Services
-
The Cartersville City Schools Special Education Services Department ensures that all students with disabilities have access to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). The Department of Special Education Services provides identification through child-find activities, conducts comprehensive evaluations and provides "specially designed instruction" to meet each student’s individual needs in an effort to prepare our students for employment and independent living. Special services are provided at no cost to parents and may include instruction in the classroom, in the home, in hospitals, institutions and other settings, physical education, travel training and/or vocational education. Services are comprehensive, are provided in a variety of environments, and cover students ages three through twenty-one who are eligible for special education and other related services as well as assistive technology according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
