Awarded for Innovation and Excellence
The Georgia School Board Association recently recognized Cartersville City School Board for its innovation and excellence. The GSBA honored our school board as a recipient of the Leading Edge Award, highlighting districts and school boards leading the way in ensuring students are competitive in an ever-changing global market. The board was awarded for its innovative practices in implementing True Accountability.The board also earned the Georgia School Boards Association’s 2022 Exemplary School Board recognition, designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. The GSBA Board Recognition Program is a three-tier process to achieve the highest level of board governance. The three recognition levels are Quality, Distinguished, and Exemplary, with Exemplary being the highest level.
The Cartersville School Board officially meets on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. with the exception of April, in which the meeting will be on the third Monday, due to Spring Break. Meetings will take place on a rotating basis at each of the CCS schools and the school board office.
Board Work Sessions are scheduled for 6 p.m. the Thursday preceding the regular Board Meeting.
Board Committee Meetings
Committees of the Cartersville School Board are scheduled to meet each month according to the schedule below. These meetings are subject to cancellation.
* Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the Technology Committee will meet on Thursday, January 11 at 5 p.m. located at 323 South Erwin St.
Cartersville City Council Millage Rate Meetings
The Millage Rate is set in August by the Cartersville City Council. Prior to the millage rate vote, three meetings are held by the Cartersville City Council in their meeting chambers. For meeting details, please visit https://www.cityofcartersville.org/meetings. The meetings are labeld as "City Council Special Called Meeting." Please check the agenda to confirm the meeting's purpose.
