AP Honor School

Cartersville High School earned a spot on the list of Georgia Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools. Using the results of the 2024 AP courses and exams, the Georgia Department of Education honored eligible schools in six categories. Cartersville High School received recognition in the following categories:

AP Humanities School

Schools with students testing in the following AP courses: at least one English course, two history/social science courses, one fine arts course and one world language course

AP Humanities Achievement School 

AP Humanities schools (see definition above) with at least 50% of all AP Humanities exams earning scores of three (3) or higher.

AP STEM School

Schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses

Principal Shelley Tierce said, “Providing opportunities for students to be both challenged and supported is important to us at Cartersville High School. Advanced Placement classes enable students to potentially earn college credit and to engage in coursework that provides college-level academic rigor. We are very proud of the hard work and dedication of our students and staff who have embraced the challenge of advanced work. Cartersville High School is fortunate to provide 16 different AP options for students.”
