CHS 2024 AP Honor School

Cartersville High School earned a spot on the Georgia Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools list. Using the results of the 2023 AP courses and exams, the Georgia Department of Education recently honored eligible schools.
 
Superintendent Dr. Marc Feuerbach said, "Providing students with a variety of academic options, holding high expectations for them to excel, and giving them the support they need to challenge themselves is the standard in our district and a hallmark of Cartersville High School. I am very pleased to see this student-focused perspective leading to success not only for our students but also state recognition for Cartersville High School.
 
"We are particularly proud of the AP STEM Achievement Award. The distinction is a reflection of the hard work, collaboration, and partnership that occurs between our faculty, staff and students. Their desire  teach, learn, and achieve lends to creating the beneficial learning environment fostered at Cartersville High School."
 
Cartersville High School received recognition in the following categories: AP Humanities, AP STEM, and AP STEM Achievement School.

AP Humanities means that Cartersville High School demonstrates a commitment to providing a wide variety of humanities' focused opportunities to students by administering at least five exams in each of the following AP categories: one ELA course, two social studies courses, one fine arts course, and one world language course and a minimum of 25 total exams administered.

AP STEM means that Cartersville High School supports students in exploring a variety of STEM related subjects by administering testing in at least four AP STEM courses, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, and a minimum of 25 exams administered.
 
AP STEM Achievement shows that Cartersville High School successfully prepares students to excel in STEM areas with at least 50% of all AP STEM exams earning scores of 3 or higher.​
