Ms. Tara Peters is the Teacher of the Year for Cartersville Primary School. In 2009, Ms. Peters graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education as well as an endorsement in reading. She received her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College in 2010. She is currently working toward a Specialist degree from Piedmont University in Curriculum and Instruction and will graduate in December 2019. Mrs. Bishop says, “Ms. Peters began her career in 2010 as a Pre-K teacher at Kids and Company and is now in her fifth year at CPS. She is an exceptional kindergarten teacher who is positive, kind, understanding, and patient with all of the students. Not only does she have wonderful relationships with her students but with their families as well.” From a very young age, she knew she had a heart for children from taking care of her two younger siblings to babysitting other children. After high school, she worked in an afterschool program and began substitute teaching. She quickly fell in love with the students and naturally began making connections that meant so much to her as a student. Her desire is to make sure every child knows that they are important and matter.
