Degrees and Certifications:
BS-Auburn University MA-University of Alabama-Birmingham
Hello, Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Kim Turner. I am married to Ken Turner and have a son, Wesley Green. Wesley attends Auburn University and is a graduate of Cartersville High School. My dad is Ed Parsons. He visits our classroom and does a lot of “behind the scenes “ things for us. I graduated from Oxford High School in Oxford, Alabama. I then attended Auburn University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising. I worked for a sporting goods manufacturer, Chalk Line, as marketing/merchandising assistant as well as their spokesperson for over five years. I then returned to school at the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB) where I received my Master’s Degree in Education. I have worked in the teaching field since 1991. I have taught self-contained learning disabilities classes, first grade, second grade, and fifth grade over the years. I have also taught beginning ballet, helped with summer camps and summer schools with kids ranging in age from 3-12. Some summers I babysit for school aged children. I work at Hand Of Christ after school program to help students who don’t always have help at home. I am also a consultant for Rodan and Fields skin care products where I help change skin and finances! I continue my education on a regular basis through workshops, seminars, webinars, and classes. I am an active member of Sam Jones Methodist Church, on the Executive Board for Tranquility House (Battered Women’s shelter), and volunteer for various community events.
My goal for this year will be to find out everything about each child, and then use that information to make sure each child is loved, nurtured, and made to feel special. I will work hard at making sure every child is successful in my classroom, helping each child to maximize his/her ability. I will become a specialist at my grade level on standards required by the State of Georgia. I will develop and maintain lines of communication with the parents of my students. I will work hard to be a great motivator. I will provide my students with all the tools necessary to be a great student and a great person.
Looking forward to a great year!
