I am thrilled to be a Cartersville Purple Hurricane! My husband and I moved to Cartersville 5 year ago. I began working at CPS as a paraprofessional in the Fall of 2016. During that time, I learned that CPS is the happiest school I have ever stepped foot in. I also recognized that CPS is strongly supported by the community. The Cartersville community and CPS staff work together to help students learn and grow. When I began my teaching degree, I prayed for the opportunity to teach at CPS. My prayers were answered in 2018 and I am so thankful for the opportunity to teach 2nd grade at the best school!
In my classroom, I inspire and motivate students to love learning. I believe it is my job to create a classroom environment conducive to learning. It is my desire for students to feel like our class is a family by caring, encouraging, helping, and motivating one another. I look forward to greeting students at the door each morning, providing academic challenges, guiding students to learn through failure, and celebrating students' success! I want my students to be risk takers and give their best in all they do. It is my desire for students to wake up each morning with excitement for another day at school.
My first priority is my family so let me introduce my family to you. My husband is Benjy and he serves on staff at Tabernacle Baptist Church as the Family Discipleship Pastor. My husband also invests in our school system through the Mentor Canes program, volunteering time at all the schools for various events, and of course supporting his wife! We have a three year old daughter named Brooklynn. We look forward to her becoming a Cane next year. We also have a very energetic beagle named Gracie. While we are not natives to Cartersville, we feel a pride and priviledge to invest in our community.
If I am not teaching, you might find me at church, the gym, shopping, or hiking. My family loves our church and spends a lot of time each week being actively involved at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Early before school each morning, you can find me working out at The Rock Fitness Center. Sometimes on the weekends, I enjoy hiking. However, I don't hike as much now that I have to carry a toddler on the hikes. I also enjoy shopping and spending time by the pool. During school breaks, you will find my family traveling to visit relatives we don't get to see often enough. My parents and grandparenst live in Florida. My husbands parents live in Louisiana. Therefore, we take time to travel and visit relatives during breaks.
This is my third year teaching at CPS and I am thrilled for another exciting year!
