The CES Art Club was started in January of 2019 to give additional creative opportunities to our top 4th and 5th grade artists. After an overwhelming response, two Art Club groups were formed which met on alternating Thursdays after school. During the 2019-2020 school year there were three Art Club groups meeting every 3rd Thursday after school. Creative focus includes both individual and group projects. Individual projects are created by students using a variety of mediums such as clay, paint, paper, and print. Group projects foster teamwork and include artworks that can be displayed at our school and in the local community. Plans for group projects include a painted rock garden, art to benefit CES’ March for Babies campaign, and a “1,000 Paper Cranes” sculpture. Future Art Club goals include field trips, guest artists, “Random Acts of Art” for our school and community, and participation in the student art division of the Marietta/Cobb Musuem of Art’s “Chalktoberfest”.
Due to the Covid-19 situation and to ensure we follow heath guidelines, we are postponing the start of Art Club until after the first nine weeks of school. At that time our administration will evaluate the situation to determine when we can safely begin Art Club for this year. I know students are excited about getting Art Club going again and so am I!!! I will notifiy students and parents as soon as I know when we will being Art Club. I am very excited to bring more art experiences into the lives of our students this year and cannot wait to share the outcomes of our many projects. Stay tuned to see our results!

The problem is how to remain an artist once he or she grows up.”
