New Opening and Closing School Times

At Cartersville City Schools, we aim to continually find ways to meet our students' needs while managing our resources wisely. In order to continue to serve our students' transportation needs and to meet the significant increase in bus riders, we will stagger the opening and closing times of school beginning in the 2018-19 school year. 

New Transportation Procedure

In an effort to provide efficient, on-time transportation service to all qualifying students, the school system has modified transportation requirements for the 2018-19 school year. Cartersville City Schools will only transport students who reside more than one-half (½) mile and one (1) mile away from his or her respective school and students with an individual education program that mandates transportation.

Students who reside within, or whose assigned bus stop is within, the one-half (½) mile and the one (1) mile radius of their respective school and have previously received bus services will no longer be transported. Only those students who have a route to school affected by one of three hazards, which are a river, a bridge with no sidewalks, or a major highway, will be considered for transportation.

Pre-K, Primary and Elementary Students:
Bus transportation will be provided for the primary and elementary school students who reside more than one-half (½) mile from the school. Transportation shall not be provided for primary and elementary students who reside one-half (½) mile or less from the school.

Middle and High Students:
Bus transportation will be provided for the middle and high school students who reside more than one (1) mile from the school. Transportation shall not be provided for middle and high school students who reside one (1) mile or less from the school.
