Student Teaching

Candidates seeking field experiences or observations must coordinate through their college or university. All observation and field experience requests must be initiated by the university or college and submitted through the Cartersville City Schools Human Resources Department online request form. Requests submitted directly by students will not be accepted.

Candidates seeking placement for student teaching, practicum, residency, or internship experiences should request that their college or university field placement coordinator submit a placement request through the Cartersville City Schools student placement process (online form). Requests are accepted only from colleges and universities, not from individual students.

College and university field coordinators should complete the Cartersville City Schools online placement request form and provide the following information:

• Candidate Name
• Candidate Email
• PSC Number
• Degree Program
• Placement Start/End Dates
• Required Hours
• Mentor Requirements
• Current employment with Cartersville City Schools (if applicable)

A link to the placement request form will be available on the Cartersville City Schools website. The form must be completed and submitted by the college or university. Students may not submit placement requests directly.

All requests from colleges and universities should be submitted by published Cartersville City Schools deadlines. Deadline dates will be posted on the district website and may be updated annually.

The Human Resources Department will work with school administrators to identify and approve an appropriate cooperating teacher or mentor for each placement request.

Human Resources will provide placement confirmations directly to the college or university field placement coordinator and the appropriate school administrator.

Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university approved by Cartersville City Schools for placement consideration. Partnership agreements and approved institutions may change periodically.

Cartersville City Schools may maintain partnerships with colleges and universities across Georgia and beyond. Universities should verify partnership status with Human Resources before submitting placement requests.
